Market Analysis Project

Kura Sushi

The objectives of the research are to measure the marketability; the overall evaluation and purchase intention, and to determine the positioning of Kura Sushi in the Boston market, Kura Sushi is a Japan-based sushi chain restaurant and is known for self-service, innovative system, and entertainment.

I was responsible for quantitative research, including design questionnaires, using SPSS to analyze the collected data, finding patterns and customer Insight, and developing a set of marketing strategies. In the end, I created a PowerPoint report and present it to my professor with my teammates.

Two research methods were implemented: focus group interview (FGI) and survey. The FGI session was conducted with 9 people aged under 35. The result of the FGI expressed a moderately positive attitude towards Kura Sushi. The survey was distributed to 70 college students and young professionals in the Boston area with a variety of age, gender, and demographic backgrounds. Overall, with the moderate positive attitude from FGI and survey, and since there are no other conveyor-belt system sushi stores, we recommend Kura Sushi to enter the Boston market.
